The WhereAreYou App lets you share your location with someone else as a one-off, consent-based exchange — not continuous tracking. It's completely free and requires no account, so every share can be entirely anonymous. Here's how to use it to locate another person, with their consent.
Step 1: Install the App
Download the WhereAreYou App from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), or find links on whereareyou-app.com. Install it on both your device and the device of the person you want to locate.
Step 2: No Sign-Up Needed
There's nothing to register. WhereAreYou doesn't require an account, email, or phone verification — just open the app on both devices and you're ready to go. Because no personal details are collected, you can use it entirely anonymously, and it's free with no hidden costs.
Step 3: Ask for Their Consent
Before sending any request, ask the person directly if they're willing to share their location with you. Consent must be given knowingly — never add someone's location without them agreeing first. Because WhereAreYou only ever shares a single, one-time location rather than tracking someone continuously, the other party approves each request individually rather than granting standing access.
Step 4: Send a Location-Sharing Request
- Open the app and go to Contacts or Friends.
- Tap Add Person and enter their phone number, email, or username.
- Tap Send Request — this asks for one location share, not ongoing access.
Step 5: They Accept the Request
The other person receives a notification. They must tap Accept for their location to be shared. If they decline or ignore it, you won't see their location — this is by design, to protect their privacy.
Step 6: View Their Location
Once accepted, the app shows their location once:
- Open the Map tab.
- Their location appears as a pin, along with the time it was captured.
- The share ends there — WhereAreYou doesn't keep tracking them afterward. To see an updated location later, send a new request and wait for them to accept it.
Step 7: Cancel a Pending Request
If you sent a request and change your mind, or the other person hasn't responded yet:
- Go to Contacts.
- Select their name.
- Tap Cancel Request.
Since sharing is one-off rather than ongoing, there's no "stop sharing" toggle to manage — each share simply ends after that one exchange.
A Few Tips
- Free and anonymous: WhereAreYou App is free to use and never requires an account — no email, phone verification, or personal registration needed.
- One-off by design: It never does continuous or background tracking — it's built specifically around consent-per-request, single-location sharing.
- Need an updated location?: Send a new request. There's no "live tracking" mode to turn on.
- Privacy settings: Review what's shared (exact location vs. general area) in Settings > Privacy before sending or accepting a request.
That's it — with consent given for each individual share, you can locate each other when needed, one request at a time, for free and without ever creating an account. Learn more at whereareyou-app.com.
