Howto create your own transparent icons for Mac Os X

  • Create the image with a Transparent background in Photoshop.
  • Save it as a .png file.
  • Drag the image's icon to an application called Pic2Icon (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=pic2icon&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official).
  • Select the file, hit APPLE+C
  • Select the folder you want to change the icon for
  • Hit APPLE+I for the information window
  • Select the icon on the top left within the information window
  • Hit APPLE+V to replace the icon

You're done.
